Albion Online Will Shorten Guild Seasons And Drop 3 Major Updates A Year Starting In 2025
This all comes as the team looks back on 2024 in a year-end letter.
There's just a little over a week to go before we close out 2024. In the world of MMORPGs, that usually comes with teams looking back at what they've achieved this past year and a tease of things to come in the new year. Albion Online is no exception and the team has dropped their "Year in Review" post today.
Looking back first, it's been a pretty pivotal year for Albion Online. We've seen the addition of Crystal Weapons, the Foundations update that enhanced Guild Seasons and gave guilds quite a bit more ways to protect their claims via Fortifications, the expansion of the MMO into Europe (complete with Fresh Start servers), The Paths to Glory update providing more rewards for players to take on the world's challenges, and the most recent Horizon update changed the open world and finally gave players more control over their HUD.
Headed into 2025, Albion Online is re-evaluating their development cycle, something other MMOs like The Elder Scrolls Online are also considering.
While we'll have to wait until 2025 to get more details, we are teased with two big changes right off the bat. First, Guild Seasons will be reduced to 2 months in length, down from 12 weeks. Second, the team is now going to focus on delivering major updates every 4 months, with the first 2025 update being focused on expanding the foundation Horizons laid...including the addition of some shady trading opportunities.

We don't know what servers will be merged, but we do know a bit about how they'll work.
For now, you'll only be able to select from PS5 or Xbox Series X|S platforms.
The two new dungeons require you to have ESO Plus to play them at launch. They won't initially be able to be purchased as DLC.
Which means there's a speed server event, too.
