Albion Online Looks Back On "Another Momentous Year" For 2022, Seeing Five Years Of Service And New Major Content
"In early 2023 we'll continue improving on the updated Mists and Roads introduced with Beyond the Veil."
2022 was "another momentous year" for Albion Online, marking its fifth anniversary alongside new substantial content and tweaks to smoothen out the player experience. To celebrate their successful year, Sandbox Interactive published a blog on Steam to recount all the highlights of 2022 for the game.
Following the "Lands Awakened" update in late 2021, the developers started the year strong by building on its foundation, from the newly-introduced Conqueror's Challenge to the Crystal League gaining new rewards. When March came, Albion Online became playable with controllers and launched on Steam Deck, bridging into a new audience of players. Fans also saw an expansion to the "Rites of Spring" event, including a new mount called the Spring Cottontail rabbit.
The "Into the Fray" update, which improved numerous game systems and reworked Magic Staffs, arrived in June with patches months later that added a new Guild Finder and localization for Japanese and Italian players.
July marked Albion Online's fifth anniversary since launching in 2017, spurring the "Living Legacy" in-game event that focused on statues coming to life and roaming the open world. The game's latest update this past fall, "Beyond the Veil," has shaken up the game with a new realm called the Mists, the city of Brecilien, the Fey Armor line, and plenty more.
In early 2023, Sandbox plans to "continue improving on the updated Mists and Roads introduced with Beyond the Veil" and work on new features and improvements arriving throughout the year.
