Albion Online Follows The Course Of Many MMOs With Plans For Smaller, More Frequent Updates In 2024
A new update cycle is in the works.
With Wild Blood finally out and 2024 on the way, Sandbox Interactive has decided to offer Albion Online players a look at what they have planned for the MMORPG's future. The devs laid out the 2024 update plan in a new video. As Wild Blood took some time to deliver, based on a variety of factors, the company has decided to figure out a way to make updates in general faster and more reliable.
There are three primary points in their plan.
First, updates will be part of the Guild Season schedule, with them dropping around every three months. The updates will also be smaller and address something specific in the game. Finally, the devs will work on other changes and just release them as they’re ready. That last bit seems like an incredibly reasonable idea, as it means players don’t have to wait for a big drop to get a tweak or feature that’s ready to go.
The devs also note that update sizes will vary, as it will depend on the number of features completed when an update should drop. Since players only have three months or so to wait until the next one and some changes will simply be released when they’re ready, it should all balance out.
The January update was covered as well. It focuses on Guild Season and adds new rewards. The update will also rework how territories produce Season Points and introduce a new territory raiding mechanic.
