Akaneiro: Demon Hunters Open Beta Now Live
Spicy Horse Games, American McGee’s Shanghai based studio and the creative force behind the upcoming Akaneiro: Demon Hunters just announced the start of the open beta for the action-RPG.
The open beta includes a variety of new developments such as advanced character training, weapon improvements, and the still-under-development locale Shivering Pines, which adds to the game's already visually striking art style. Those that wish to give the game a spin should do so post haste. The open beta is set to run only until January 16th with the focus on stress testing the servers in preparation for the official launch a few weeks later. Those that wish to participate only need to visit the official site and sign up for an account.
On a separate note, Spicy Horse Games is also running a Kickstarter for the RPG, with promises of an Android and IOS tablet port, equipment crafting system, improved community support and curiously, the addition of co-op multiplayer. Yes you heard right, the game will not have multiplayer unless the campaign is successful. Right now all players have access to is a henchmen companion of sorts which assists them in battle. The video pitch is below.
The Kickstarter requests 200k to reach these goals, and with 51k already pledged with 24 days to go it could very well hit it's target. I do hope it reaches it's goal simply for the fact that an action-RPG sans multiplayer support is a disappointing sight indeed. You can view the full Kickstarter here. What are you thoughts about a F2P game pursuing Kickstarter funding?

Also, Akaneiro is one of the top Greenlight games, so if you upvote it there before the Jan 15th announcement, I imagine it will be a lot easier to get your specific versions.
I hope they hit their kickstarter goal ^^ It's a good game, & it's worth playing, especially if you like Diablo-types.
