After Dishing Out Compensation For Its TikTok Related Outage, Marvel SNAP Gets A New Publisher

As things were heating up on the TikTok ban side of social media in the United States, PC and mobile card game Marvel SNAP found itself smack in the middle of things when TikTok went dark. The shutdown immediately impacted SNAP due to its publisher, Nuverse, being the gaming division of ByteDance, the company that also developed TikTok. This is a little weird as in 2023 it was announced the Nuverse was winding down, but apparently they're still the publisher.

Fans weren't able to sling cards for a bit even after TikTok itself had been turned back on in the States. Things actually took a few days to come back online and Second Dinner dished out some serious compensation to players for their troubles.

Second Dinner has now decided they don't ever want to be put in this position again and has announced, via X (in a now weirdly deleted Tweet), that in cooperation with both Marvel and Nuverse, Marvel SNAP will have "almost all" of its operational and publishing responsibilities pushed in-house.

"To ensure this never happens again, and with the help of our current publisher Nuverse (Thank you!), we've already signed agreements and started the work to bring almost all operational and publishing responsibilities in-house at Second Dinner with support from a new U.S.-based publisher, Skystone Games," reads the post, in part.

Skystone Games runs a number of titles, but the one you've most likely heard of is Undying, the zombie survival game. You may know the company's founder a bit more than that, though. It's David Brevik of Diablo fame.

Things are in progress with no clear dates on the transition yet, but hopefully this will keep future issues with TikTok at bay.
