Last week we reported on an in-depth report coming from IGN about allegations against Destiny 2 developer Bungie. The allegations ranged from years ago to recently, and painted a less than flattering picture of yet another company suffering from a culture problem. Racism, sexism, crunch, a "good old boys" mentality leading to covering for some offenders...all of this and more were in the accusations.

At the time, Bungie CEO Pete Parsons was open to the criticism and seemed willing to listen, take the accounts seriously, and was committed to the company's previously communicated efforts to change in the future.

Change started pretty quickly.

IGN is reporting that after 14 years with the company, Head of HR Gayle d'Hondt is stepping down from her role. It is unclear if she is leaving the company entirely or moving to a new role within the organization, but through an email distributed to employees she cited trust as a major factor needed at this time.

"I know that they need to be trusted to be your advocates – not labeled as 'enablers' or seen as company resources who provide bad actors with safe harbor," said d'Hondt, "I am proud of the work I did at this company. I believe I made recommendations that were in the best interest of our people and in service of the company we wish to become. I also believe we made some mistakes, and that to become the better version of ourselves – the company I know we can be – we have to acknowledge and confront them, in good faith, and grow together."

She also speaks to her own allegations against a former Bungie employee for abuse, an employee who was then terminated.

We'll update this piece if we learn more about where d'Hondt is headed in the future, whether within Bungie or elsewhere.
