After 12 Years, World Of Warcraft Franchise General Manager John Hight Announces Exit
Hight began his tenure with Mists of Pandaria.
Yet another member of Blizzard’s executive staff is moving on to other things. Senior Vice President and World of Warcraft Franchise General Manager John Hight announced his departure via Twitter today. Hight’s Blizzard career began over twelve years ago when he joined the MMORPG's team as a Senior Producer on Mists of Pandaria. Over his time there he served as Production Director for Diablo III: Reaper of Souls, Battle for Azeroth, and more.
In 2021, Hight took on the role of World of Warcraft’s Franchise General Manager overseeing multiple aspects of the various games under the World of Warcraft banner. This includes games like Hearthstone.
Now, Hight is moving on to “start a new quest”. As is generally the case with these announcements, he is not prepared to announce what that new quest is. Those interested will just have to watch Hight’s social accounts to find out.
After 12 incredible years at Blizzard, I’ve decided to step away & start a new quest.
It was a tough decision, but I feel like now is as good a time as any: Warcraft is in an amazing position as the universe turns 30.
I’ve been so honored to serve all of the heroes of Azeroth.
