Activison Sets Date For Shutdown Of Call Of Duty: Warzone Caldera, Purchased Content Not Transferring
The original Call of Duty Warzone is shutting down.
September 21, 2023, will be the shutdown date for Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera, the original Warzone that launched with Call of Duty: Modern Warfare in 2020. The team will continue to focus their attention on the current Warzone free-to-play experience going forward.
As far as content purchased in Call of Duty: Warzone Caldera, you will still be able to access it in Modern Warfare (2019), Black Ops Cold War, or Vanguard. These items are not compatible with the current iteration of Warzone 2.0.
Activision reiterated that this closure has no impact on the current Warzone gameplay, inventory, or player progression in Al Mazrah or other available maps. They promise that this means even more content for the current Call of Duty: Warzone going forward.
"For those players who haven’t jumped over to the current Warzone activities," the official blog post reads, "expect a vast amount of gameplay choices across three Battle Royale maps (including Season 04’s new map Vondel), as well as Ranked Play, the DMZ Beta featuring five different Extraction Zones, BlackCell offerings, and more."
