Activision Supposedly Won’t Release A Mainline Call Of Duty Game In 2023...So New "Premium" Content It Is Then
However, ‘premium paid content’ is on the way.
For the first time in nearly two decades, Activision may be skipping an annual release date for a mainline Call of Duty game. Although, a smaller title could still be released. In addition, Activision did say that Call of Duty would receive “new premium content” in 2023.
Perhaps there will be some paid DLC to come or a smaller spin-off game, but as for the mainline series, players will have to wait until 2024 when players will most likely get a Black Ops game as images have been reportedly datamined from this game earlier this year.
This might come as a blessing in disguise. Later this year Activision has already confirmed the Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 release date for October 28. This game will be a sequel to the 2019 game, not a remake of the 2009 title of the same name. Then later this year will be the launch of Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0. Maybe taking off one year will give the studio time to create something truly spectacular and build hype around the game as well. Perhaps this year off will also give time for Sony to make a game as well, as the company is concerned, saying that the Activision Blizzard acquisition could make Call of Duty fans jump to Xbox.
Note: Activision Blizzard is still under investigation by the state of California for serious harassment charges. CEO Bobby Kotick is alleged to have known about such actions within his company – and performed some himself – and shielded the perpetrators from consequences.
