A Little Over A Year After Launch, VtM: Bloodhunt Is Getting Ready To Enter Maintenance Mode
Sharkmob cites an inability to “reach the critical mass needed to sustain development”.
I hate to say it… because I love the world of Vampire: The Masquerade, but it’s starting to seem like developers who like making money are wasting their time there, or it's just that they keep trying to make the kinds of games that roleplayers – the people who are really into that IP – aren’t interested in playing, like battle royales. Whichever the case may be, the end result is the same. Today, Sharkmob announced they will be ceasing development on the Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodhunt battle royale game.
This is not to say the game is going away completely. Rather, the company will be keeping the servers online and allowing players to keep fighting as long as possible. They will be turning off the ability to purchase items using real-world money. That won’t be for a bit, though, so if there’s stuff you want, you have until approximately May 26 to buy things. During this time they’ll be looking to implement ways to earn in-game tokens more easily so players can buy things that way.
As for ensuring the game doesn’t get boring for those who choose to keep playing, the developers are working on implementing systems, such as an in-game voting system, that will allow players to unlock new things. Details on all of this will be available at a later point.
