49 Companies Have Signed Deals With SAG-AFTRA On Over 120 Games
Negotiations with the group that represents companies like Activision resume tomorrow.
After three months of strikes, SAG-AFTRA is returning to negotiations with the bargaining group representing Activision, EA, Insomniac Games, Formosa Interactive, Take 2, WB Games, Disney Character Voices, Blindlight, and Llama Productions tomorrow (October 24). When they do, they’ll have contracts signed with 49 companies for over 120 games to show that what they’re asking for isn’t that big of an ask.
The sticking point between SAG and the bargaining group continues to be the protections the guild seeks for actors when it comes to AI technology. These provisions focus on “proper consent, compensation and transparency around the use of AI, for all [SAG] members who work the contract”.
As stated by SAG-AFTRA, the signed contracts include “the same common-sense, foundational AI protections” the guild has been seeking, which “demonstrate that the provisions are fair and achievable”. Moreover, it seems that more contracts are likely to be signed in the coming days as SAG-AFTRA national executive director and chief negotiator, Duncan Crabtree-Ireland states that “there’s no sign of things slowing down”.
