2D MMO Sunset World To Replace Element Quest On Steam
The game’s developer hopes for it to eventually become MapleStory’s successor.
Some of you may (or may not) have been aware of a little 2D MMO by the name of Element Quest Online. It’s a little 2D MMO that’s been on Steam since last November – although, it’s currently unavailable for download. That would be because the developer, Xploria/Musclebird (Now simply Musclebird), elected to shut the game down in late January in response to several issues, mostly tied to player reception.
Today, the company announced Sunset World Online. Also a 2D MMO, the game is intended to pick up where Element Quest Online left off, only with fewer of the issues players complained about. When the new game launches the developer hopes to offer the developers an improved experience. Some of the improvements they’ve listed are a better starting experience in which players begin their journey at the “School of Magic” and a higher level cap for early access players. The cap was originally 10 and will now be 26. Also included in the list of promises are more spells and spell upgrades, more quests, more locations, and various improvements.
The game is designed around the old-school MapleStory experience and the developer hopes for Sunset World to eventually become its successor. They feel it will bring something “new and refreshing” to the “already 3rd-person-saturated MMO” space. They also believe that being an indie studio, they will be willing to take risks and experiment with more innovative things.
Sunset World will launch on March 1. If you’re interested in checking it out, you can find more information on the game’s Steam page. It’s probably worthwhile to pay attention to the networking notice on the Steam page, as it will give you a good idea of what you’re in for latency-wise in your region. Based on the image, it would appear all the game’s servers are currently US-based.
