8 Cross-Platform MMO Games That Unite Players Across Devices
These cross-platform MMO games offer player choice in where you play.
Whether you're looking to play on multiple devices yourself, or just want to play with a friend who only owns a different platform than you, these MMO Games are here to accommodate you.
Final Fantasy XIV
Platforms: Windows, Mac, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox X|S Open Beta
Final Fantasy XIV is one of the biggest MMORPG games out there, and it's got you covered whether you want to play on PC, Mac, PS4, or PS5. The game features cross-play and cross-progression, so jumping on different platforms won't hinder your progression. The game is currently in an open beta on Xbox X|S as well, so there's another platform for ya.
Albion Online
Platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS
Albion Online specializes in cross-play and cross-progression on PC and mobile devices. You can play on either Android or iOS, so no matter your device, you can jump on Albion Online anywhere you are (well, as long as you've got an internet or wifi signal).
Black Desert Online
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox X|S
Here's one that includes Xbox X|S as well as PlayStation 4 & 5 and PC. Black Desert Online is a stunningly gorgeous game with exciting action combat and plenty of grinding. You can play with your friends across platforms, but sadly it does not have cross-progression for your grinding needs.
Runescape
Platforms: Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, iOS
Kick it old school with Old School Runescape or the updated version and you can play with cross-play and cross-progression on Windows, Mac, Linux, Android, or iOS. A classic MMORPG beloved by its player base, Runescape is always worth checking out if you're feeling nostalgic for the good old days of MMOs.
Warframe
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, Xbox X|S
Be a space ninja in Warframe on PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, Xbox X|S, or PC, and play with your friends across platforms. Cross-platform progression is coming in the future, but for now, you can jump in and play with your friends no matter what their preferred platform is... they even started the mobile train on iOS.
DC Universe Online
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch
Nintendo Switch fans can play DC Universe Online with others on PC, PS4, or Xbox One. Create your own DC Universe superhero and take down crime as you patrol the streets in search of justice. No cross-progression in this one.
Destiny 2
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, Xbox X|S
Back to one you can play across platforms with your friends, or play on multiple platforms yourself. Destiny 2 allows cross-play and cross-progression on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox X|S. There's a new expansion coming out later this year as well, so now would be a good time to jump on your favorite platform(s) and give it a go.
Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis
Platforms: Windows, PlayStation 4 & 5, Xbox One, Xbox X|S
Advanced action combat and stunning move sets make Phantasy Star Online 2 New Genesis a blast to play, and the champion of the longest game title on this list. You can play on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox X|S, and yes, there is cross-server progression so you can play on multiple platforms yourself.
