8 Cool Mounts You'll Want In Your World Of Warcraft Collection
Some are useful, some are just cool looking. But they’re all ones you’ll covet.
If there’s one way to keep players active in an MMORPG, it’s by giving players something to collect. Aside from minions or outfits, the other big-ticket thing to collect is mounts. All good MMOs have mounts of some kind. Some have more than others. Some get incredibly creative with their mounts, making them as interesting as they can.
In World of Warcraft’s case, Blizzard not only does that but also makes some more useful than others. Of course, there are the mounts that just look good, and perhaps make you look cool for having something rare.
We’ve selected a few mounts that either draw the eye, have some extra uses, or both for this list. Some are going to be more difficult to get. Some might even border on impossible. But hey, sometimes the challenge is worth it on its own.
Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth
One of several mounts in the game that’s useful as more than just a mount, the Traveler’s Tundra Mammoth carries more than just the player. It brings its own vendors on the road. Granted, only one of the two vendors is really useful as it offers repairs. The other sells outdated items. Still. Repairs on the go are always useful. Plus, it’s a mammoth, which is pretty cool on its own.
Mighty Caravan Brutosaur
Another useful mount, the Brutosaur brings along an Auction House NPC. It’s also a rare mount these days as it hasn’t been available via vendors for a while. Instead, players have to go to the Black Market Auction House, and well… It’ll cost you.
Sea Turtle
Not every mount has some extra useful feature. Some of them are just cool because not a lot people have them. The Sea Turtle is one such mount, likely because it requires a lot of fishing to obtain. The mount can only be found in schools of fish in Northrend. That said, it can appear in salt or fresh water. As it’s a mount found in water, it does have a bit of an affinity for it, meaning it travels faster there than on land.
Astral Cloud Serpent
Another rare mount is the Astral Cloud Serpent. It has a low drop rate of 1% and requires patience to obtain. But, just look at it. It’s cool. You know you want it.
Grand Expedition Yak
Once again, we have a mount that’s useful for more than just getting around or looking cool. Although, it is pretty neat looking. The Grand Expedition Yak boasts both gear repair and Transmogrification. It’s the only mount that keeps you fighting fit and looking good on the go.
Invincible
It’s probably a social requirement to have the Lich King’s personal mount in your collection. And players have spent plenty of time farming the Icecrown Citadel for it. As with all mounts found in older content in games, it’s easier to farm now than it was when it first appeared. So, other than just a simple lack of patience, there’s not really an excuse to not have it.
Otto
Otto is a newer mount, available to to players who have achieved a certain renown level with the Iskaara Tuskarr in Dragonflight. He’s another fishing mount, and requires players to complete the quest “The Way to an Otto’s Heart”. He’s cute, blue, and comes with his own pair of shades.
Spectral Tiger
The Spectral Tiger is another incredibly limited mount. In fact, it was only available to claim via a special code obtained via the WoW trading card game, which has been discontinued for a while. That being said, as the video above notes, there are some indications the mount may be made available again. So, who knows, you may be able to pick it up in the future.
