Apex Legends: Upheaval Update Brings Back Solos, Plus Alter's Abilities Revealed
Alter is from another dimension and uses that to her advantage.
Apex Legends has a new update coming and it is called Upheaval. Here's the scoop on everything coming in the update.
Solos Takeover will be replacing Duos once the new Upheaval season goes live in Apex Legends on May 7th. Use your Battle Sense to detect nearby enemies, do the shooty shooty with pre-kitted weapons and attachments, and keep the fight going with auto heal and second chance mechanics.
You can see the cinematic teaser for the new legend Alter in our article from yesterday. Alter has dropped in from another dimension and is determined to raise hell in this one. Her passive is Gift From The Rift which allows her to remotely interact with nearby death boxes to claim a single item. Alter's Tactical is Void Passage where she fires a void blast from her tail that shatters against a surface to open a dimensional gateway through from one side to the other for a short time. The angle of this shot determines what surface the exit will open on and can be used to open passages through ceilings and ledges, allowing Alter to place her passages creatively through the environment. And finally, her Ultimate is Void Nexus which she can deploy and allies can interact with it to open a phase tunnel back to that point. Once a tunnel is opened any player can walk through it, and it can be used even when downed.
The Broken Moon map is getting an update with points of interest such as the Quarantine Zone where Promenade East used to meet West. Breaker Wharf has been moved and there is now a smaller Space Port where it used to sit. Several other points of interest in the Broken Moon map have been updated with new aesthetics and buildings as well.
Last but certainly not least, the ability to upgrade and customize your melee Katar is coming to Apex Legends in the Upheaval update. Base Katars are available in the Mythic Shop, then you upgrade the theme, power source, and activation emote and Death Boxes.
Once a player owns the Katar Base, they can start unlocking customizations for any set (i.e. Molten or Gladius), but customizations must be unlocked in sequential order: base, theme, power source, activation emote, then Death Box.
Here's the Apex Legends: Upheaval gameplay trailer for your viewing pleasure.
